Publishers Note

Wes Arnett brings something rare and deeply needed to the Vital Voyage Blog: the steady voice of someone who has lived the realities of substance use disorder and mental health challenges—and built a life, career, and mission rooted in recovery. His lived experience is not theoretical; it is embodied, compassionate, and grounded in daily practice with individuals and families navigating complex recovery paths.

As a recovery coach and peer mentor, Wes understands that there is no single road to healing. He honors multiple recovery pathways, walks alongside people without judgment, and advocates for a recovery profession that is ethical, human-centered, and community-driven. That perspective aligns seamlessly with Vital Voyage’s commitment to meeting readers where they are, without shame or simplification.

Wes is also an invaluable member of our Editorial Advisory Board and a trusted Subject Matter Expert in Substance Use Disorder and co-occurring mental health conditions. As publisher, he is one of the first board members I turn to when thinking through blog strategy, tone, and impact. His ability to blend lived experience with professional rigor strengthens our content and keeps it both credible and deeply relatable. Wes doesn’t just contribute articles—he helps ensure that Vital Voyage remains a place of hope, integrity, and real-world relevance for those seeking recovery, understanding, and connection.
