Publishers Note

Storyteller Michael Cline brings an unfiltered honesty and depth of lived experience to his writing that is both compelling and instructive. His articles and books  (TUVA, NY Junkie Days and NY Recovery Days) offer a raw, firsthand look at addiction, survival, and the complex realities of navigating systems of care—capturing both the desperation and the humanity within those moments.

His work thoughtfully explores the deeper roots of addiction, particularly unresolved trauma, and reinforces the importance of true emotional healing as part of long-term recovery.

At Vital Voyage Blog, we value voices that do more than tell a story—we look for those that push the conversation forward. Michael’s writing does exactly that. His ability to connect lived experience with meaningful insight makes his work resonate with both professionals and individuals seeking understanding, growth, and lasting recovery. We are honored to have him as a frequent contributor and as April’s Vital Voyage Blog Author of the Month.

Michael Cline is the author of New York City Junky Days, New York Recovery Days, and My Adventures in Tuva. A recovery-focused writer and former NYC resident, he documents his 1999 transition from addiction to a life of global discovery. Now based in Spain, he works full-time as a content writer while contributing to various publications on addiction, throat singing, and travel.
